Course Objectives

1. Explain the needs and functions of the field of statistics.
2. Construct and implement the tasks for data collection and data presentation.
3. Explain the purpose of descriptive measures.
4. Develop and apply methods of inferential statistics.
5. Compute and interpret probabilities.
6. Provide accurate estimation of the population mean by applying confidence. interval for known and unknown standard deviation.
7. Explain the relationship between sample size, standard deviation, confidence level and margin of error for confidence interval for µ
8. Explain the logic behind hypothesis testing.
9. Discuss the basic strategy for comparing the means of two populations based on independent/paired samples.
10. Explain the reasoning behind the Chi-Square goodness-of-fit-test.
